LISTEN UP.

My name is Vixen Vance and I run this league. Not the other one β€” the other one's got that computer doing color commentary and pretending he's neutral. Cute. I'm not neutral. I've got favorites, I've got grudges, and I've got a folding chair with somebody's name on it.

Here's what you need to know, and I'm only saying it once, so put down whatever you're doing.

In your other league, everybody gets a clean slate every August. In MY league, there is no clean slate. You build a roster and you LIVE with it. Forever. That's the whole gimmick, sweetheart.Vixen Vance

0. Tale of the tape

Eight managers, one league β€” … of 8 signed. Contract status and team names are pulled live off Sleeper. If it says UNSIGNED, that man has not joined the league yet, and everybody can see it.

Records are from regular MFA. They mean nothing here. That's the point of a startup draft: everybody walks in with nothing.

1. What dynasty actually is

Regular fantasy football is a one-year contract. Everybody drafts, everybody plays, everybody tears it up in January and starts over. Dynasty doesn't do that.

Which means age matters now. A 24-year-old is a six-year investment. A 31-year-old is a two-year rental with a nice name. In your other league nobody cares β€” you're re-drafting in eleven months. Here? That decision follows you around like a bad tattoo.

2. The words, and what they actually mean

People are going to throw terms at you like you're supposed to already know them. You're not. Here they are, in English.

Startup draft
The one-time draft that stocks all eight teams from nothing. That's Tuesday. 29 rounds. I call it the biggest card of the year, because it is.
Rookie draft
Every summer after this one: a short draft of that year's incoming rookies only. Worst record picks first. The new signings. Some of them are going to be stars and some are going to be jobbers, and nobody knows which.
Taxi squad
Four extra roster spots that hold rookies only. They don't count against your 25 players and you can't start them. Park a rookie there while he sits behind somebody in real life, then promote him whenever you want — you just need an open roster spot. Once he's up, he can't go back down. DY: the squad locks at the first game of the regular season — after kickoff nobody moves onto the taxi squad for the rest of the year, so set it before then. And duration is one year: any player with more than one year of NFL experience has to be activated. You stash the kid, you don't get to stash him forever, and the window shuts on opening night.
Superflex
A lineup spot that takes a QB, RB, WR, or TE. Since quarterbacks score the most, almost everyone starts two. Same as regular MFA this year. Quarterbacks are going to cost you a KIDNEY on Tuesday. Plan accordingly.
Slow draft
The draft runs over several days instead of one night. Starts at eight hours per pick, done from your phone, and the clock can tighten if we drift. Nobody sits in a room. Nobody clears a night. You pick from bed like a civilized degenerate — and you queue before you sleep, because I am counting.
Future picks
Next year's and future years' rookie picks, tradeable right now, up to three years out. Future considerations, brother. This is how a man mortgages 2029 to win one Sunday in November.
Pick notation (1.01, 2.07)
Round, then the pick inside that round. 1.01 is the very first pick. 2.07 is the seventh pick of round two.
Contend / rebuild
Your two honest options. Contend: trade youth and picks for guys who win you games NOW. Rebuild: trade your good veterans for young players and picks, eat a bad season, come back dangerous. Contending is your babyface run. Rebuilding is a heel turn. Both draw money. Standing in the middle doing nothing draws NOTHING.

3. The road

This is what "forever" actually looks like. Regular MFA ends in January and starts over. This doesn't. Tap any stop.

4. The rules of this league

Eight teams, on Sleeper. Everything mirrors regular MFA wherever it can, so you're not carrying two rulebooks around in your head. Four things now deviate on purpose β€” all four came out of a rules audit by Derrick Yuen, whom this league retained as a consultant on August 25, 2026, and they're flagged DY below.

Scoring β€” full PPR DY

Every catch is worth 1 point, on top of the yards. That's the one place scoring differs from regular MFA, and it's deliberate: it makes wide receivers matter as much as running backs, and it matches KeepTradeCut, the trade calculator every dynasty league uses to check whether a deal is fair. Their values are PPR. Ours are now too, so nobody is negotiating off the wrong numbers. Everything else below is identical to regular MFA.

DY: a long field goal gets paid once. Sleeper shipped us a redundant "50+ yards" bonus worth another 5 on top of the 50–59 band, which meant a 51-yarder was quietly paying 10. That extra line is set to zero. A 51-yard kick is 5 points. A 61-yard kick is 6.

6. Questions you're too proud to ask

Answered from this desk, in the order I got tired of hearing them.

Do I have to be online at 8 PM Tuesday?

No. That's just when the bell rings. Eight hours a pick means you'll usually have most of a day. Notifications on and you're fine.

Does an 8-hour clock mean somebody's picking at 3am?

Eight hours is a ceiling, not a schedule. It's the most you may take, not what you will take. Most picks land in under two minutes, because you're all sitting there with your phone in your hand pretending to work.

And here's the move nobody mentions: Sleeper has a draft queue. Stack the players you want before bed. If your clock does run out while you're asleep, the app takes the next guy on your list instead of whoever its own rankings like. Queue three deep every night and the clock stops being a problem forever.

What does "forfeit" mean? Is that the same as tanking?

No, and this is worth getting straight. Tanking is legal here. Trading your good veterans for young guys and picks, taking your beating, and coming back loaded is called rebuilding, it's half of what dynasty is, and nobody's getting fined for it.

Forfeiting means quitting. Walking away from the team mid-season, going dark, not setting lineups, leaving a roster nobody's driving. That's the thing that actually wrecks a dynasty league, because your abandoned team still plays eight matchups and warps everybody's season. Do that and you don't get your $50 back, and somebody else inherits your roster.

The line between them is simple: rebuild all you want β€” just keep setting a lineup. Field your guys, answer trade offers, stay in the group chat. Lose on purpose with your chest out. That's a strategy. Disappearing is not.

What if I blow my pick anyway?

The app takes the best guy on its list and the card rolls on without you. It's survivable. It's also entirely your fault and I will bring it up later.

Am I really stuck with this roster forever?

You keep whoever you want for as long as you want. You can cut, trade or replace anybody, any time. "Forever" means nobody takes your guys away every August β€” not that you're married to them.

Never played dynasty. Am I cooked?

For about a month. The one adjustment is age: when two guys are close, take the younger one. That's it. That's the secret. Don't tell anybody I told you.

Rookies or proven guys?

Both, and nobody can tell you the ratio. Veterans win now. Rookies get more valuable every year they're good. Tuesday is where you decide what kind of team you're running, and you can change your mind later through trades.

What if my team stinks in year one?

Then you turn heel. Trade your good veterans to the contenders for young guys and picks, take your beating, get a high rookie pick, and come back dangerous. Everybody who's ever played dynasty has done this. Some of them enjoyed it more than winning.

How do the rookie drafts work next year?

Short draft, rookies only, worst record picks first. Usually four rounds. Those picks trade in advance β€” which is why somebody's going to offer you a 2028 pick this season like it's Monopoly money.

Can I trade picks I don't even have yet?

Up to three years out. And you will. And it'll feel great. And then 2029 shows up.

What's the taxi squad in one sentence?

A place to stash a rookie you believe in for a year without burning a real roster spot on him. Rookies only, four spots, and it locks at the first game of the regular season — so if you want somebody in there, put him there before kickoff.

What if I want out after this season?

Say so early so somebody can take the team over, and know you forfeit that year's money. Straight up: don't sign the contract if you're already looking at the door.

Does this mess with regular MFA?

Not one bit. Different league, different money, different rosters, different emails. Same eight idiots, twice the trouble.
